Why we started the Boom Awards
This year marks two very special milestones for us – one whole year since we took over ownership of Boom Magazine, and an incredible 10 years of Boom serving local families across our community.

As we approached these celebrations, we wanted to create something that reflected everything Boom stands for: supporting local businesses, bringing communities together, and celebrating the people who work tirelessly to make family life that little bit better.

The Awards were created to shine a spotlight on the amazing businesses, organisations and individuals who go above and beyond for local families every single day. Whether it's running classes, creating memorable experiences, offering support, or simply being there when families need them most, these businesses make a real difference within our community.

The Awards are also an opportunity to celebrate achievements. Running a business isn't always easy, and we know first-hand just how much hard work, dedication and passion goes on behind the scenes. Like so many business owners, we understand the reality of fitting work around day jobs, family life and bedtime routines, often putting in countless hours when everyone else has switched off for the day. The truth is, when you run your own business, you never really switch off. The Awards give us the chance to recognise that effort, celebrate those achievements, and say a huge thank you to the people who help make our area such a fantastic place for families.

Of course, it's not all about trophies and titles. We wanted to create an evening where local businesses could take a well-deserved break, leave the children at home for a few hours, get dressed up, and enjoy a night celebrating one another.
Most importantly, we've designed the evening to be relaxed and welcoming. We know award events can sometimes feel a little nerve-wracking, but there is absolutely no pressure. Whether you're a finalist, sponsor, supporter or guest, we simply want everyone to enjoy the evening, celebrate success, and be proud of everything they've achieved. You are already all winners to us.
