There ’ s something so magical about Christmas family adventures. Wrapping up warm, exploring somewhere new and finishing with a hot chocolate is one of our favourite ways to make festive memories. From twinkling light trails to Christmas sculpture hunts, here are five festive adventures we ’d love to enjoy this year!

1. Wollaton Winter Light Trail ✨🦌

Wollaton Hall and its beautiful grounds are transformed into a magical world of lights, music and seasonal storytelling. With glowing displays, interactive installations, hot chocolate and marshmallow toasting, it sounds like the perfect festive evening for the whole family.

2. Peter Rabbit at Clumber Park 🐰

We absolutely loved visiting Clumber Park last year when the trail featured The Snowman! We even linked it in with a trip to the theatre to watch the show, making a whole festive day of it. This year, families can follow the Peter Rabbit sculpture trail, discovering 12 giant, colourful sculptures along the way. It' s a lovely way to encourage little legs to keep walking while enjoying some fresh winter air.

3. Lights of Abraham 🚡✨

For something a little different, Lights of Abraham in Matlock Bath combines a festive light trail with a cable car ride! Expect illuminated woodland, glowing gardens, interactive displays and plenty of seasonal treats. We think the cable car journey alone would make this one a hit.

4. Thoresby Festive Trail 🎄✨

Thoresby’s Festive Trail is a lovely way to soak up the magic of Christmas with the family! Enjoy a festive wander through the beautiful grounds, discover seasonal surprises along the way and make special memories together. It’ s the perfect excuse to wrap up warm, embrace the Christmas spirit and enjoy a little festive adventure with the children. Plus, it' s only £3 so perfect to keep the cost down.

5. Christmas at Belvoir Castle ✨🌙 Belvoir Castle ’ s Christmas lights are a magical festive treat for the whole family! ✨ Wander through the beautiful castle grounds, sparkling with twinkling lights, enchanting displays and plenty of Christmas magic. It’ s the perfect way to get into the festive spirit, make special memories with the children and enjoy a little bit of Christmas wonder. 🎄
