Let’s face it: if we waited for perfect weather to make plans, we’d never leave the house! 😅🌧️
We all know how unpredictable British weather can be - so we wanted to provide you with things us and our buddies enjoy doing come rain or shine. The golden rule of a British summer is to always have a backup plan, so we’ve rounded up our absolute favourite spots and activities that work beautifully whether you're soaking up the sun or dodging a sudden downpour.
Let’s start with hope of a Warm, Sunny Summer and lots of activities to do:
The Shawvers enjoy getting out the zoo to see what animals we can spot

Isabella (age 6) from the Collis/Murray says on a sunny day she likes to go for a big walk with her family and friends. Her recent favourite was Millennium Walkway and Peak Forest Canal at New Mills.
The P Family like to play in the garden or visit our favourite park (the River Gardens in Belper) as we can also feed the ducks and stop for a drink and cake/ice cream at the Swiss Tearooms
The Tiddlekick’s Clan enjoy picnic in the park! Or marketon with a maccies after! Our fave sunny day activity is actually a bbq and every one playing in the garden! (We like food can you tell 😂)
The Collins Crew enjoy playing in the garden, going for walks, football
The Linford’s like to be up and out of the house, we love a good zoo or farm, or even a trip to the beach. Followed by a walk to a family & dog friendly pub with a park & activities for Flynn, to enjoy a pub lunch & drink for mum & dad to rest after chasing a toddler all day.

The Hardy Family love elvaston castle as we are within walking distance (been known to go in the rain too though to be honest!). Also bluebell farm, sundown adventureland or Wheelgate.
Sunny days for the Watkiss Family are dog walks and feeding the duck.
One of The Barratt Family’s favourite summer activities to do has got to be going for a picnic! It could be in our garden, the local park or whilst on a family day out! We just LOVE a picky lunch/tea.
Let’s be Frank are out regardless of the weather! I literally cannot stay in.

In May & June our fave sunny outings were Bluebells for a day at the farm seeing the animals - Franklin spent the whole time mooing. Followed by a pub lunch at the Bulls Head in Belper that is so perfect for kids - bouncy castles, play area and games!
The Carrington - Coope’s enjoy going on walks with phoebe across the fields, or going to the park -
Cole loves the swings
The Adamsons favourites are a day out anywhere with ice cream! Crich Tramway and National Trust properties are faves for repeat visits.
Now for the Rainy Days :
The Collins Crew enjoy baking (usually carrot cake or shortbread), play sand with diggers or painting

The Linfords like to stick on a film usually toy story or cars and chill with no where to be or go, and enjoy the quality time playing with toys. Have a no rush kind of day. Or if Flynn is full of beans we will likely go to a soft play or play cafe.
On a rainy day The P Family like to bake biscuits at home, build with magnetic tiles or go out and splash in the puddles!
Isabella(age 6) from the Collis/Murray says on a rainy day she likes to go for a walk and a play in the woods or to her favourite softplay (currently Infinity Parks Derby)
On a rainy day The Barratt’s have PJ days on the sofa with our quilt and a good film is one of our favourite things to do, especially when we've had a super busy week!

Let’s Be Frank’s rainy day faves were Mini Donington for their Kidchella event and Little Moos Gruffalo special! In fact we went to little moos 3 separate times in May and loved every visit! 🫶🏻
The Shawvers love to get out the activity tray to do experiments and dinosaurs messy play.
The Carrington-Coope’s enjoy reading books and playing with toys. We have a toddler tower now, so hoping to do rice Krispy cakes with him soon 🫶 We also like visiting soft plays and little moos on Rainy days
The Tiddlekick’s Crew love a movie day with biscuits and treats on the sofa on a rainy day. We’re out all the time doing clubs and school work or nursery so it’s actually so lovely when we get to slow down and be all together at home! That being said with the mix of ages 😅 rainy day we love a trip to ikea! Meatballs and role play in all the rooms!

The Watkiss Family Rainy days, they still like to try and get out of the house so currently Lily is really loving play cafes.
The Adamson family on a rainy day favourite is a kitchen disco and baking something chocolatey!
